Senator Curran invites families to submit stories of veterans to be showcased at Illinois Capitol

To help remember veterans, tell their incredible stories, and honor their service this Veterans Day, State Senator John Curran (R-Downers Grove) is encouraging constituents to submit a tribute and photo of their loved one who served our country to be displayed on the annual Veterans Day “Wall of Honor” in the Illinois Capitol. This year’s tribute wall will be on display from Nov. 11 through Nov. 23.

“Our Wall of Honor provides an opportunity for Illinois veterans to receive some much-deserved recognition,” said Sen. Curran. “I hope families in the 41st Senate District participate in this project so we can honor their favorite veterans in a very special way this month.”

Families and friends who would like to participate should submit the following to be displayed on the annual Tribute wall:

  • photo of veteran (military photos are preferred but not required)
  • written story (max: 250 words)
  • name of veteran
  • military branch (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, National Guard, Navy)
  • conflict served (Afghanistan, Iraq, September 11, Gulf War, Vietnam, Korea, WWII, WWI, Peacetime, other).


If possible, please email submissions to by November 11. Submissions will be accepted through November 23, and the display will be updated daily to include new entries. Submissions can also be mailed to Veterans Day Wall, 309 G Statehouse, Springfield, IL 62706. For additional information, please call 217-782-1650.
