Lemont, IL… Illinois Senate Republican Leader John Curran (R-Downers Grove) is teaming up with the Lemont Police Department to provide residents with a safe and convenient way to get rid of unneeded prescription drugs that pose as hazards in the home for this year’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
Saturday, October 28, 2023
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Lemont Police Department
14600 127th Street
Lemont, IL 60439
Participation is easy, and residents can remain in their car. Simply drive through the marked lanes and follow the directional signs through the parking lot. Staff will be there to assist and gather your medications. Best of all, this event is free.
Accepted medications include prescription drugs, pet medications, and vitamins. Restricted items include liquids/creams, needles, and illegal drugs. If possible please remove prescription drugs from pill bottles and put in a ziplock or brown paper bag.
Why is it important to safely dispose of unused drugs?
Disposing of medications down a sink drain or flushing them down the toilet can contaminate groundwater, streams and lakes, and could harm people, wildlife and vegetation. At this event, disposal methods are environmentally safe. Medications tossed in the trash could accidentally poison young children and animals. This event also helps rid homes of unused prescription drugs, which might be misused or abused by children, teens and young adults.
For questions or more information, please reach out to Senator Curran’s Office District Office at (630) 914-5733.
