Senator John Curran to Host Recycling Fair in Downers Grove November 4

Downers Grove, IL… Illinois Senate Republican Leader John Curran (R-Downers Grove) is hosting a free community recycling event to help residents clean out unwanted clutter on Saturday, November 4, in Downers Grove. Residents are encouraged to bring more challenging items to recycle such as old copiers, DVD players, bikes, documents and more to Marquette Manor Baptist Church Parking Lot, 333 75th Street, in Downers Grove.

“This is a great event to help families clean out their homes and offices, and recycle what they don’t need,” said Curran. “I’m looking forward to getting to know more of our constituents at this sustainable community event.”

Attendees are asked to stay in their cars upon arrival and wait for an event team member to come to assist them and take their items. Representatives from local organizations including Goodwill Industries, E-Tech Trading, Paper Tiger, S.C.A.R.C.E. and Working Bikes will be on hand to assist residents. Informative legislative brochures on a variety of topics will also be available.

Additionally, a paper shredding truck will be on-site to dispose of old documents with a limit of two grocery bags per car until the shredder is full. Shredding is available for residential shredding only – not commercial documents.

The team WILL BE ACCEPTING a limited number of electronics including all types of cables, cell phones, telephone devices, computers, laptops, hardware including mother boards, monitors, and printers, fax machines, calculators, game systems, stereos, toasters, blenders, toner cartridges, UPS batteries and car batteries.

S.C.A.R.C.E. will also be collecting books, holiday lights, bread tags, small inkjet cartridges, vinyl records, musical instruments, Brita filters, Brita pitchers, and keys.

The team will NOT BE ACCEPTING, TVs, hard drives, alkaline batteries, paint, hazardous waste and bulbs of any kind, or dehumidifiers.

More information on all participants and a complete list of acceptable items can be found at senatorcurran.com.
