Illinois Senate Minority Leader John Curran (R-Downers Grove) was recently recognized as a “Champion of Manufacturing” by the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association (IMA) in their 2024 Legislative Report Card, which highlights lawmakers who consistently support Illinois’ manufacturing industry.
“Our caucus is committed to supporting policies to help foster a more pro-business and pro-growth environment where Illinois job creators can succeed,” said Curran. “I am proud to work with the IMA and our entire business community as we continue to fight for initiatives to bring more manufacturing, innovation, jobs and investment to our state.”
The IMA’s Report Card rates lawmakers based on their voting record on key bills that impact Illinois’ manufacturing sector. Leader Curran voted to support IMA’s position 89% of the time over the last two years, making him one of the top ten highest-ranked members of the Illinois Senate.
“Leader Curran continues to fight for more economic opportunities for all Illinoisans by supporting Illinois job creators in both his personal votes and caucus leadership,” said IMA VP of Government Affairs Donovan Griffith. “We appreciate his strong record of support for the manufacturing sector and look forward to continuing to work with him and the Illinois Senate Republican Caucus to foster more innovation and economic growth in Illinois.”
Leader Curran’s voting record demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting policies that benefit manufacturers and the broader business community in Illinois. As the manufacturing sector employs over 600,000 people in the state, ensuring that manufacturers have a strong voice in Springfield helps safeguard a cornerstone of Illinois’ economy and a major job creator in the state.
