This seminar will help offer information and assistance to suburban Cook County homeowners, many of whom are being asked to pay exponentially more on their recent property tax bills.
Across Cook County, property taxes rose about $706 million, climbing from $17.6 billion to $18.3 billion, according to the Cook County Treasurer’s Office. Homeowners are shouldering an extra $611 million, or nearly 86% of this year’s increase.
In the south and southwest suburbs, where all properties were reassessed, taxes rose a total of $265.4 million. The median south suburban residential tax bill increased by 19.9%, the largest percentage increase in at least 29 years.
State Sen. John Curran is helping to sponsor this event to help provide information and assist constituents in working with the Cook County Board of Review to try to bring some relief to district families.
