Orland Park, IL…State Representative Nicole La Ha and Senator John Curran invite the community to a Fishing Derby on Saturday, August 3rd, at Tampier Lake West, located at 13179 Will Cook Road in Orland Park. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., featuring a morning full of fun, learning, and prizes.
“This Fishing Derby is a fantastic opportunity for families to spend quality time together and enjoy the great outdoors,” said Rep. La Ha. “We are thrilled to partner with Senator Curran and other amazing organizations to provide a fun and educational experience for everyone.”
The Fishing Derby will include awards for the biggest fish, most fish caught, and a special sportsman award. Kids will have the opportunity to learn how to fish from local experts, and no fishing license will be required for participants. The event will be joined by the Illinois Conservation Police and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
The event will start at 9 a.m. with a fishing safety presentation by the Illinois Conservation Police. The first 50 kids to arrive will receive a free rod and reel combo. The Future Anglers Association has generously donated these rod/reel combos for the event.
Senator Curran said, “We’re excited to host this event and see our community come together. Teaching kids how to fish and promoting outdoor activities is something we’re passionate about. We hope to see many smiling faces and great catches!”
