State Senator John Curran is hosting a free community recycling event to help residents clean out unwanted clutter on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in Naperville. Residents are encouraged to bring more challenging items to recycle such as old copiers, DVD players, bikes, documents and more to The Compass Church – Naperville Campus – at 1551 Hobson Rd. in Naperville, IL, 60540, from 9 am to noon.
“Summer is a great time to clear out what isn’t serving you and declutter in a sustainable way,” said Sen. Curran. “From document shredding to clothing donation, to good, old-fashioned recycling, this free community event offers multiple ways to come together and make a difference.”
Attendees are asked to stay in their cars upon arrival and wait for an event team member to come to assist them and take their items. Participants include Beaver Shredding, DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, E-Tech Trading, Goodwill Industries, Naperville Noon Lions Club and Working Bikes. Informative legislative brochures on a variety of topics will also be available.
A paper shredding truck will be on-site to dispose of old documents with a limit of two grocery bags per car until the shredder is full. Shredding is available for residential shredding only – not commercial documents. Unneeded or out -of-date, non-liquid prescription drugs can also be brought for disposal.
