Sen. John Curran to Host Recycling Fair in Lemont

Downers Grove, IL… State Senator John Curran and State Representative Nicole La Ha are hosting a free community recycling event to help residents clean out unwanted clutter on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in Lemont. Residents are encouraged to bring more challenging items to recycle such as old copiers, DVD players, bikes, documents and more to Bambrick Park at 1330 Smith Road in Lemont, IL.

“This is a great event to help families with sustainable spring cleaning,” said Curran. “I encourage all local residents to take a look at our acceptable item list and see what they can unburden themselves with at this free community event.”

Attendees are asked to stay in their cars upon arrival and wait for an event team member to come to assist them and take their items. Participants include E-Tech Trading, Goodwill Industries, Lemont Lions Club, Lemont Police Department, Lemont VFW Post 5819, Paper Tiger, and Working Bikes. Informative legislative brochures on a variety of topics will also be available.

“The Recycling Event is great way to support our planet, declutter and connect with other members of the community,” said La Ha. “I look forward to helping local families and our environment at this free event.”

Additionally, a paper shredding truck will be on-site to dispose of old documents with a limit of two grocery bags per car until the shredder is full. Shredding is available for residential shredding only – not commercial documents.

Acceptable items include:

  • Bicycles
  • Bicycle Parts/Bicycle Accessories
  • Documents for Shredding (Limit 2 bags per car, residential only)
  • Prescription Drugs • (place in plastic bag)
  • Flags
  • Hearing Aids
  • Glasses
  • Gently Used Household Items/Clothing
  • Some Electronics* 

NO TVs, CRTs, X-Rays, liquids of any kind, appliances, light bulbs, or batteries will be accepted. More information on all participants and a complete list of acceptable items can be found at senatorcurran.com.
