Sen. Curran to Host Annual Children’s Safety Expo in Naperville

Naperville – Illinois Senate Minority Leader John Curran is encouraging residents to join in on the family-friendly fun at his FREE Children’s Safety Expo on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Madison Junior High School in Naperville.  

The Expo is an “action packed” morning including Tollway Tykes Child I.D.’s from the Illinois Tollway, face painting, Crew the Comfort Dog, Selfies with Sue the Dinosaur from the Field Museum and many resources available to families for a “one stop shop”.

“Bringing families together to teach our children safety is such a rewarding part of this job.”, said Sen. Curran.  “Please join us at this fun free event for families offering educational exhibits, refreshments, and special giveaways.” 

The event is free to the public with ongoing demonstrations including:   

  • Brookfield Zoo Ambassador Animals (9:00a.m.) 
  • Air Methods Medical Helicopter Landing (9:15 a.m.)  
  • Traveling World of Reptile Show (10:00 a.m.)  
  • Naperville Police K-9 (11:30 a.m.)
  • Drawings for Giveaways (12:00 p.m.) 

The Expo will also feature the popular “Touch a Truck” demonstrations that allow children to see, touch, and get behind the wheel of their favorite squad car, firetruck, snowplow, bucket truck, Tollway HELP truck, ambulance, vactor, utility truck, education trailer from the Conservation Police and command post from the Naperville Emergency Management Agency. A real-life Air Methods medical helicopter that will land at 9:15 a.m. (weather permitting). Find out firsthand what a flight nurse does on any given day!!!! Local professionals will be available to answer questions about the equipment and the work they do.  Other information on helpful programs and hands on activities will be available to all participants.
