Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) and Senator John Curran (R-Downers Grove) are partnering with several community organizations for a free, comprehensive recycling event on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am at:
Bambrick Park
1330 Smith Road
Lemont, Illinois
“This free event is a great opportunity to get rid of unwanted items taking up household clutter that can be reused or repurposed for better causes,” said Leader Durkin.
This free event allows residents to dispose of household items that are no longer of use but can be repurposed for others. Items that can be recycled include: electronics (no TV’s, hard drives or monitors), keys, flags, books, gently used clothing, hearing aids, musical instruments, eye glasses, bicycles, household items, linens, CDs and DVDS. Unused prescription drugs (no needles or liquids) can also be dropped off for safe disposal as long as they are placed in plastic bags. In addition to items that can be recycled or repurposed, residential paper shredding will also be available on site. Paper shredding is limited to two grocery bags per car and will be available until the shred truck is full. Participants are asked to stay in their cars upon arrival and allow volunteers and staff to take the items from vehicles.
“It is a pleasure to work with Leader Durkin and a host of community partners on this comprehensive recycling event,” said Sen. Curran. “Together, we are able to offer a single location where residents can recycle a variety of items, safely destroy their sensitive documents, and securely dispose of unused pharmaceuticals.”
Partnering organizations include Lemont VFW Post 5819, the Lemont Police Department, Paper Tiger, S.C.A.R.C.E., Morning star Mission, Working Bikes, and BL Duke.
