Darien – Illinois Senate Minority Leader John Curran and State Representative Nicole LaHa are encouraging residents to join them for family-friendly fun at their FREE Children’s Safety Expo 2025 on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Lace Elementary School in Darien.
The Expo will include demonstrations from the Brookfield Zoo Ambassador Animals, “Touch a Truck, face painting, fire safety puppet show, giveaways and more at this popular free event.
“Making our communities more safe for our families is one of the top priorities of our legislators”, said Curran. “The Expo is a fun free event for families to come together for educational exhibits, refreshments and special giveaways.”
The event is free to the public with ongoing demonstrations including:
- Brookfield Zoo Ambassador Animals (9:00a.m.)
- Darien Police K-9 (9:30 a.m.)
- Traveling World of Reptiles (10:00 a.m.).
- Drawings for giveaways will begin at 11:45 a.m. fly
The Expo will also feature the popular “Touch a Truck” demonstrations that allow children to see, touch, and get behind the wheel of their favorite squad car, firetruck, snowplow and a real life UCAN medical helicopter. Local professionals will be available to answer questions about the equipment and the work they do. Other information on helpful programs and hands on activities will be available to all participants.
