Illinois Senate Republican Leader John Curran (R-Downers Grove) released the following statement in response to Gov. Pritzker’s signing of the FY26 budget:
“You know it’s a bad budget when it’s based on nearly $1 billion in tax increases and enhancements. Over the last six years, while Illinois families have struggled under the pressure of inflation and rising costs, the governor and his Democratic allies increased state spending by $15 billion – nearly 40 percent. This unprecedented tax-payer funded spending growth has included no meaningful tax relief for Illinois families and will continue to hold our state back.”
