Illinois Senate Republicans are fighting against HB 3438 a Chicago takeover of suburban mass transit (Metra and Pace) that forces a billion-dollar bailout of Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson paid by suburban taxpayers.
It taxes suburban tollway users, takes more than $70 million from DuPage County currently used to support public safety and repair of DuPage County roads, and imposes a new onerous Real Estate Transfer Tax in the suburbs, increases the taxes on selling a home six-fold and using part of those tax dollars to pay for Brandon Johnson’s pension liability and gross mismanagement of the CTA
I am strongly opposed to this legislation and am calling on my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to stop this Chicago takeover of suburban transportation.
