On February 28, Senator John Curran (R-Downers Grove) appeared on WTTW’s Black Voices with the two primary sponsors of the criminal justice reform bill, that was recently signed into law by Governor Pritzker. The three lawmakers discussed the policy objectives of the legislation, and talked about how in the coming months trailer legislation will be filed to change some elements of the massive new law.
“I think an important takeaway from our conversation is that as a legislature we need to stop passing legislation we know will require significant fix-up trailer legislation after-the-fact,” said Sen. Curran. “Instead, we need to spend more time on the font end vetting proposed statutory language before moving for passage of any bill.”
