State Representative Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) is partnering with State Senator John F. Curran (R-Downers Grove), State Representative David S. Olsen (R-Downers Grove) and a team of environmental experts to host an Environmental Town Hall Meeting that will be held on Thursday, January 25.
"It is important that we educate ourselves on how to best protect our environment and learn how to manage environmental issues that come up in our homes and neighborhoods," Durkin said. "This event will offer residents an opportunity to get expert guidance on ways to improve their communities and manage energy usage in their households."
The forum will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Homer Township Town Hall at 16057 South Cedar Road in Lockport. The three lawmakers will be joined at the event by experts from the Illinois Environmental Council, the Illinois Chapter of the Sierra Club, the Environmental Law and Policy Center, the Citizens Utility Board, and the Illinois Solar Energy Association.
“Anyone who is interested in becoming more environmentally-conscious or who would like to find out how they can conserve more resources will learn a great deal at this town hall,” said Curran. “Our guest speakers are environmental leaders in their fields and will provide information on timely topics and steps that every member of our community can do to lessen their footprint and save money and energy.”
"It is a pleasure to partner with Leader Durkin, Senator Curran and experts in the field of environmental science for this upcoming town hall meeting," Olsen said. "I would encourage people to bring their questions to the event so they can gain a better understanding of environmental issues and how they affect Illinois residents and consumers."
