Curran appointed to six Senate Committees, named GOP Spokesperson for Local Government Committee
State Senator John Curran (R-Downers Grove) has been appointed to six Senate Committees and named Republican Spokesperson for the Senate Local Government Committee, which considers legislation related to local government processes, consolidation, financial responsibilities and operations. Senate Republican Leader Bill Brady announced the appointments on August 30.
“It’s an incredible honor to be named Republican Spokesperson for the Local Government Committee,” said Curran. “It’s an opportunity that really allows me to participate and improve on local government processes, as well as guide the operations of government agencies and entities which impact the daily lives of our constituents. I’m excited to get to work and use my background as a former DuPage County Board Member and Village Trustee in Woodridge to impact change on the local level.”
The Downers Grove Senator will also serve as a member of the Senate Commerce, Energy, State Government, Transportation, and Oversight of Medicaid Managed Care Committees.
“All six of my committees represent crucial interests for the state, local government and our constituents,” said Curran. “Coming from a district that has a great business presence and working population, issues relating to commerce and transportation, as well as government processes, are high-priority for me. I’m eager to get to work on all these issues as soon as possible."
The Senate has 26 committees, which are tasked with analyzing legislation and making recommendations to the full legislative body. Once legislation has been introduced, it is assigned to the appropriate committee based on subject matter. Only those bills approved by a committee will be considered by the entire Senate.
